About Cambridge Heat Pumps

What this site is
Cambridge Heat Pumps helps homeowners and landlords in Cambridge and nearby South Cambridgeshire villages make sense of air source heat pumps. It has two parts:
- Guides on prices, grants, planning, Victorian homes, winter performance and running costs, written for Cambridge.
- An enquiry form that passes your details to a local heat pump installer from our network.
We are not installers. Any survey, quote, installation, service or repair is carried out by an independent installer, who you contract with directly.
Why Cambridge needs its own guides
Cambridge raises questions national advice often skips. It’s frostier than most English cities. Its water, drawn from the chalk aquifer, is very hard. Much of its housing is solid-walled gault brick, often in one of 18 city conservation areas or listed. A large share of homes are privately let. And the surrounding villages include homes still heated by oil. The guides here deal with each of those directly.
What happens to your enquiry
Your enquiry goes to one installer from our network who covers your area. They contact you to arrange a survey. We don’t circulate your details to multiple firms, sell them, or keep them once they’ve been passed on. Our privacy notice has the detail.
Choosing installers
We only pass enquiries to installers who are MCS-certified, which is a legal condition of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, and who genuinely work in the Cambridge area. TrustMark registration, manufacturer approvals and heat pump design training count in an installer’s favour. The full criteria are on the methodology page.
We’d still encourage you to check any installer yourself. Our vetting checklist shows how.
The operator
Cambridge Heat Pumps is operated by Bartram (Robert Alsop, Individual Entrepreneur), Tbilisi, Georgia. Tax ID: 306572731.
The operator is based outside the UK, which we’d rather say clearly than leave you to discover. The operator researches and writes the site and handles enquiries. Installations are carried out by UK-based installers.
